Opening for Research Scientist in the Laser Dynamics Laboratory at the Georgia Institute of Technology
The School of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Georgia Institute of Technology invites applications for a (non-tenure track) Research Scientist position in its Laser Dynamics Laboratory (see: http://ldl.gatech.edu), at the rank of Research Scientist I, which will be involved in the operation and research of the femto-second laser facility and working with researchers using lasers in nanoscience and nanomedicine. The applicant is required to have at least three to four years working with lasers in general and Femto-second lasers in particular. The successful candidate should have hands-on experience with tuning and maintenance of mode-locked femtosecond Ti:sapphire lasers, regenerative amplifiers, and optical parametric amplifiers. The individual is required to have a Ph. D. in Chemistry, Physics, or a related field.
This is a good opportunity for an ultrafast laser researcher to do very productive research with a very active group in nanoscience and nano-technology. Therefore, it provides an ideal atmosphere for people who seek to expand their research into this area by using lasers and working with graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and faculty members with interests in very diverse areas of nano-systems that span the material sciences and engineering to biological systems.
The salary for the position is competitive.
For further information or application instructions for this position, please submit a letter of interest and a current curriculum vitae to Professor Mostafa A. El-Sayed, Director, Laser Dynamics Laboratory (email: melsayed@gatech.edu).
All applicants are subject to a background investigation including criminal background check.
